Why I'm Running

Waverley West is more than where I live—it's where my family and I are building our future.

Over the past several weeks, I have had the privilege of speaking with residents across Bridgwater, Prairie Pointe, South Pointe, Bison Run, and surrounding neighbourhoods. Those conversations have shaped my campaign.

I've listened to concerns about traffic congestion, road quality, drainage, public transit, winter services, landfill odours, neighbourhood safety, and ensuring taxpayers receive better value for their money.

These conversations reinforced my belief that our community deserves practical leadership, responsible planning, and a Councillor who is accessible, listens, and works hard for residents.

As a younger candidate, I bring fresh ideas, new energy, and a long-term commitment to serving our community. My goal is to solve today's challenges while helping prepare Waverley West for future generations.

That is why I am running for City Councillor.

Priorities

Practical priorities for Waverley West

Focused on what residents need most today and for the future.

Fix Traffic Bottlenecks

  • Traffic congestion is one of the concerns I hear most often.
  • Many residents have told me they spend an extra 20 minutes entering or leaving the neighbourhood during rush hour.
  • As our community grows, our transportation network must grow with it.
  • I will advocate for:
  • Better traffic flow
  • Improvements to key intersections
  • Additional access points where feasible
  • Smarter transportation planning

Better Planning for a Growing Community

  • Waverley West continues to grow rapidly.
  • Roads, drainage, parks, transit, schools, and future development should be planned together—not after growth has already occurred.
  • Planning today means creating a stronger community for both current and future generations.

Better Roads & Drainage

  • Residents deserve roads that last.
  • I will advocate for:
  • Better road quality
  • Improved drainage
  • Better contractor accountability
  • Stronger oversight of infrastructure projects
  • Taxpayer dollars should be invested wisely.

Better Transit & Smarter Road Construction

  • Reliable transit improves everyday life.
  • I will advocate for:
  • More frequent bus service
  • Better neighbourhood coverage
  • Improved transit connections
  • I also believe major road construction should be scheduled primarily between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., where practical, to reduce daytime traffic congestion and minimize disruptions.

Better Winter Services

  • Winter should not prevent residents from safely accessing their homes.
  • I will advocate for:
  • Better snow clearing
  • Faster response in areas affected by heavy drifting
  • Improved back lane maintenance where recurring access issues exist

Better Landfill Management

  • Many residents have shared concerns about odours from the Brady Road landfill during the summer.
  • I support improved landfill management practices, modern operating processes, new technologies, and continued investment in composting facilities to help reduce odours and improve the quality of life for nearby communities.

Safer Neighbourhoods

  • A strong community starts with safe neighbourhoods.
  • I will support:
  • Crime Watch programs
  • Community partnerships
  • Practical safety initiatives
  • Working with Winnipeg Police and residents

Respecting Your Tax Dollars

  • Residents expect good services and responsible spending.
  • I believe City Hall should improve project oversight, reduce waste, and ensure infrastructure is built properly the first time before asking taxpayers to pay more.
  • Every tax dollar should deliver better value for our community.
My Commitment

If elected, I will:

  • Listen before making decisions.
  • Remain accessible throughout my term.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, community organizations, and City departments.
  • Advocate for practical, long-term solutions.
  • Keep residents informed.
  • Put Waverley West first.
